Masta is a film about the exuberance and energy of the Dahi Handi festival which is celebrated along with Janmashtami every year in India. It involves communities hanging an earthen pot filled with dahi (yogurt) or other milk-based delicacy, at a convenient or difficult to reach height. Young men and boys form teams, make a human pyramid and attempt to reach or break the pot. We trace the journey of one group Siddi Sadan Mitra Mandal, Worli, which participates in the festival every year and hear their trials and tribulations in the larger context of the richness of the festival.
